This Week’s New Books – Christmas Haul
There are so many new “Look at my new books!” memes that I’m having troubles choosing. I know a few of the hosts personally and I don’t feel like picking teams on this one. So, I introduce my own conglomeration of all the memes out there! If you’re hosting a similar meme or if one of your friends hosts one, let me know and I’ll add their graphic (:
Whew, I haven’t done one of these in ages! I got quite a nice selection of books for Christmas, and the past few weeks have been absolutely wonderful review-wise as well. Here’s what I’ve got!

Gifted & Bought:
These are the books I either got as a gift for Christmas, or that I bought when I was on my trip to Edinburgh.
- The Roald Dahl Treasury – I saw this book at Waterstones and I knew I just had to have it. It’s fully in colour with all these lovely images
- Obsidian Butterfly, Narcissus in Chains and Incubus Dreams by Laurell K. Hamilton – These books are part 9, 10 and 12 of the Anita Blake series. Apparently I was very tired when I made my Christmas wishlist
- Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews – I’m really excited for this one, Magic Bites was a lovely book
- My Soul to Take, My Soul to Save and My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent – Didn’t very much enjoy her adult books, but I heard her YA ones are really good. They were extremely inexpensive at The Works, so I picked them up
- Lament by Maggie Stiefvater – Stiefvater’s book are a hit or miss with me. Hopefully this one is a solid hit!
- Quidditch through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling – Yay, my Harry Potter collection is finally complete!
For Review:
Massive thanks to Quirk Books for providing these copies for review! They look like a lot of fun. It has “bizarre beasts, more strange mysteries, and more adventure”, what more could a girl want?
Review copies courtesy of the author(s). These books make me so happy! They’re definitely meant for girls about the age of ten, but I still enjoy them. Review for the first book, Athena the Brain, will be up soon
Completely different tone from the previous books, Deadrise is some kind of thriller. I don’t know what to expect, but the premise sounded interesting. Review copy courtesy of the publicist.
This sounds like a fun romp through insane sci-fi situations. From the blurb: “Eviction Notice, is a raucous, science fiction adventure about Alice Able, a small town woman at the end of her rope who must save the Earth from space aliens trying to evict humanity into deep space.”. Book received through Mona Loring PR.
