July in Review
In which I summarize all that has been going on on the blog this month
July in one sentence: IT’S SO HOT but at least I can still read while being brain-dead on the couch, hiding from the sun.
Reviews on the blog:
- Once by Anna Carey (2/5 Stars) – Suffers severely from second-book syndrome and therefore barely anything happens. Wasn’t impressed by this sequel to Eve
- Personal Demon by Kelley Armstrong (5/5 Stars) – Awesome and fast-paced, there is a reason the Women of the Otherworld series has so many fans all over the world
- My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent (3.5/5 Stars) – Decent YA paranormal novel that stayed away from certain genre clichés
- Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein (2/5 Stars) – Boring and not life-changing in any way. Just your regular WWII read
- Shadow’s Son by Jon Sprunk (4/5 Stars) – Interesting blend of an imperial Rome setting with fantasy assassins and magic
- My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent (2/5 Stars) – This book once again proves my fickle relationship with Ms Vincent’s books. Didn’t like this one at all
Classics read:
- The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli – Gives interesting food for thought. Was a lot more readable than I was expecting it to be
