May in Review
I’ve been messing around with different styles of monthly wrap ups throughout the years, and it has made yet another comeback, this time as Month in Review!
May in one sentence: A very busy month with uni stuff, but managed to read a lot and am completely on track with my reviews!
Reviews on the blog:
- Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black (3.5/5 Stars) – Engaging and enjoyable YA paranormal book featuring ballet, not particularly innovating though
- Teacher’s Pest by Charles Gilman (3.5/5 Stars) – Quick MG fantasy/horror read with tons of creepy insect monsters
- Belle Epoque by Elizabeth Ross (4/5 Stars) – Was very impressed by this YA historical; inspired by a story of Zola Belle Epoque was a unique story
- In the Shadows of Blackbirds by Cat Winters (5/5 Stars) – Absolutely amazing YA paranormal set during the first World War; I’m not one for war books but In the Shadows of Blackbirds completely changed my mind about them by the haunting setting
- Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza (DNF 1/5 Stars) – Ugh. Horrible. Couldn’t finish
- Fact or Fiction? The Paris M6 Crashes by Colin Hall (3/5 Stars) – Enjoyable sci-fi graphic novel for the conspiracy freaks
- Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding (4/5 Stars) – Steampunk-y fantasy featuring airship pirates
Classics read:
- Hamlet by William Shakespeare – Sheesh, it was as if they weren’t speaking English at all
