June in Review
In which I summarize all that has been going on on the blog this month
June in one sentence: Woohoo, after those tedious resits and a week of work, it’s finally summer break!
Reviews on the blog:
- My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic by Katie Cook & Andy Price (4/5 Stars) – Don’t judge me. It’s tons of fun
- Spellcaster by Claudia Gray (3/5 Stars) – Paranormal YA with some issues, but the gloomy atmosphere makes up for a lot of them
- Thin Ice by Mikael Engström (4/5 Stars) – Lovely Scandinavian story about a boy trying to find his way through the foster system
- The Rose Throne by Mette Ivie Harrison (2/5 Stars) – Sadly this fantasy story fell flat for me
- Born of Illusion by Teri Brown (3/5 Stars) – Featuring séances and magic tricks. Enjoyed it
- Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch (3/5 Stars) – It started out great, but throughout the religious and political messages just rubbed me the wrong way
Classics read:
- Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe – Gah. Absolutely detested the main character and the story. Maybe Defoe had some interesting ideas but I can’t see them through the mess that’s Robinson Crusoe
